The following histogram shows the height ranges of plants. What is the modal class?

In this question, we are asked to find the modal class of a given histogram representing the height ranges of plants. To do this, we recall that in a histogram the horizontal axis gives us the classes in our grouped frequency table and the vertical axis tells us the frequency of those classes. We also recall that the modal class is the class with the highest frequency. This means that we can find the modal class from a histogram by identifying the class with the highest frequency, which is the class with the highest bar.

We see that in the given histogram, this is the class from 70 centimeters to 80 centimeters. We usually represent the classes using the lower class bound. So, we have found that the modal class of the given histogram is the class with lower class boundary 70.
