A pizza had eight slices. Three of them had pepperoni on them. Which of these tells you how many slices did not have pepperoni, eight plus three, eight take away three, or five plus three?

We know the whole pizza had eight slices. Three of them have pepperoni. If we take away those three pepperoni slices, that will tell us how many slices did not have pepperoni.

So the number sentence which tells us how many slices did not have pepperoni is eight take away three.
