1320 divided by 12 equals what?

132 is a multiple of 12. 132 divided by 12 is 11. 1320 is 10 times greater than 132. So we need to make our answer 10 times greater as well. 11 times 10 is 110.

Another way to find out how many 12s go into 1320, using our knowledge of the 12 times table, would be to use the known fact that 12 times 10 is 120. 12 times 11 is 132. So 12 times 110 would be 1320. 1320 divided by 12 is 110.

We used two different methods to calculate our answer. In this method, we recognised that 132 is a multiple of 12 and used this to divide 132 by 12, which gave us 11. We multiplied 11 by 10 because 1320 is 10 times greater than 132.

And in our second method, we used our knowledge of the 12 times table again, but this time to recognize that 12 times 10 is 120. So 12 times 11 is 132. And 132 is 10 times smaller than 1320. So we multiplied 12 by 110. Both methods gave us the correct answer of 110.
