What type of geometrical transformation has been applied to the quadrilateral π΄π΅πΆπ·?
Our starting point is quadrilateral π΄π΅πΆπ·. And π΄ prime, π΅ prime, πΆ prime, π· prime is what this shape looks like after the transformation has been applied. We want to compare the four vertices, the points of the quadrilateral, before and after its transformation.
This shape has been moved. But it has not been reflected or rotated. And this type of movement is called a translation. In a translation, every point has moved the same distance in the same direction. The yellow rays show us the movement.
The same distance in the same direction is a translation.
