The table shows the marks of 100 students in a recent science exam. How many students received 40 marks or more?

There were six students that received between zero and nine marks. 15 students received between 10 and 19, 12 students between 20 and 29, 26 between 30 and 39, 23 between 40 and 49, and finally 18 students received more than 50 marks. The two groups that represent students that received 40 marks or more are the last two columns. Those students who received between 40 and 49 marks and those students who received more than 50 marks. The number of students in these groups is 23 and 18, respectively. To calculate the number of students that received 40 marks or more, we need to add 23 and 18. This is equal to 41. Therefore, 41 students received 40 marks or more.
