Use cubes to show how many cats there are.

The first thing we need to do is count how many cats there are. One, two, three, four, five, six. Which of these three rows of cubes has six in it? Already, we can see that the first row has less than six cubes. If we match each cat to a cube in the first row, we can see that this row only has five cubes. There aren’t enough cubes to show the number of cats. And if we match each cat to a brick in the second row, we can see that, for every cat, there’s a blue brick. Let’s just count the cubes in the second row to make sure that there are six. One, two, three, four, five, six.

This is the row of cubes that shows how many cats there are. There are six cubes and six cats.
