Lesson Plan: Verbs in the Infinitive Form versus the “-ing” Form English

This lesson plan includes the objectives and prerequisites of the lesson teaching students how to use the “-ing” form or the infinitive form after a main verb to talk about literature.

Objectives

Students will be able to

  • practise the gerund form of verbs,
  • practise the infinitive form of verbs,
  • understand how to use modal verbs with the “-ing” form and the infinitive form,
  • understand which verbs are followed by the “-ing” form and which verbs are followed by the infinitive form,
  • use specific verbs with the “-ing” form,
  • use specific verbs with the infinitive form.

Prerequisites

Students should already be familiar with

  • the gerund form of verbs,
  • the infinitive form of verbs.
