Objectives

Students will be able to

  • determine the number of solutions of a system of linear equations algebraically,
  • determine the number of solutions of a system of linear equations graphically,
  • understand the meaning of consistency and dependency in relation to systems of linear equations,
  • calculate unknown quantities in systems of linear equations, given that the system is consistent, inconsistent, or dependent.

Prerequisites

Students should already be familiar with

  • graphing linear functions,
  • solving linear equations.

Exclusions

Students will not cover

  • solving systems of linear equations.
