Objectives

Students will be able to

  • compare two multiplication expressions without calculating the products,
  • compare two division expressions without calculating the quotients,
  • compare multiplication or division expressions to numbers,
  • decide when it is necessary to calculate the answer to compare two expressions.

Prerequisites

Students should already be familiar with

  • multiplication up to 10×10,
  • basic division facts.

Exclusions

Students will not cover

  • the properties of multiplication and division.
