Lesson Plan: DNA in Eukaryotes Biology
This lesson plan includes the objectives and prerequisites of the lesson teaching students how to describe the structure of chromosomes in eukaryotic cells and explain the role of histones and nucleosomes in forming chromosomes.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- define the terms chromosome, chromatin, and nucleosome,
- describe how DNA coils around histones and condenses to form chromosomes,
- recall that chromosomes appear differently depending on the stage of the cell cycle.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- the basic structure of DNA.
