Lesson Plan: Translation Using Vectors
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to describe translations using vectors and translate a shape given a vector.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- describe the translation from a point to another using a vector,
- find the position of a shape after it has been translated by a given vector,
- identify a pair of shapes where one is the translation of the other by a given vector.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- coordinates,
- translation,
- vectors.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- translations in 3D.
