Lesson Plan: Taking From Mathematics • Kindergarten
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to count to find how many objects are left after some are taken away from a group of up to 10 objects.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- subtract in situations of “taking from”,
- take away from a group to subtract,
- use concrete and pictorial models to represent subtractions,
- write complete sentences like “5 take away 2 is 3.”
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- counting up to 10.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- using the subtraction or equals symbol,
- writing equations.
