Lesson Plan: Marine Food Chains Geology

Objectives

Students will be able to

  • compare between different marine organism’s feeding habits,
  • identify the different trophic levels of marine food chains,
  • identify the role of different marine groups (plankton, carnivores and saprophytes) in marine food chains,
  • understand the characteristics of marine food chains including the changes in energy flow and biomass through trophic levels.

Prerequisites

Students should already be familiar with

  • Types of organisms according to their feeding habits.
