Lesson Plan: Areas of Circular Sectors Mathematics
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to find the area of a circular sector and solve problems that relate this area to the arc length and perimeter of the sector.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- recognize the formulas for calculating the area of a sector when the measure of the arc is given in degrees or radians,
- calculate the area of a sector,
- solve related problems involving areas and perimeters of sectors.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- radians,
- calculating arc length.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- circular segments.
