  • subtract two decimals with up to two decimal places with regrouping using the column method,
  • solve word problems involving subtracting two decimals with up to two decimal places.

Prerequisites

Students should already be familiar with

  • using the column method to subtract two decimals with one decimal place,
  • subtracting decimals using models,
  • using place value models to represent decimals,
  • the place values of tenths and hundredths.

Exclusions

Students will not cover

  • subtracting decimals with more than two decimal places,
  • subtracting more than two decimals.
