Lesson Plan: Planar Motion Using Parametric Equations Mathematics
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to describe the motion of a particle along a curve defined by parametric functions.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- interpret parametric equations as vector functions describing particle motion,
- differentiate parametric equations to convert between the displacement, velocity, and acceleration of a moving particle.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- parametric curves in two dimensions,
- derivatives of parametric equations,
- the equations of motion.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- parametric equations of motion in three dimensions.
