Lesson Plan: Elapsed Time Within 12 Hours Mathematics • 4th Grade
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to solve elapsed time problems within the same time formats of am and pm.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- use models to calculate elapsed time,
- calculate elapsed time given the start and end times,
- calculate start or end times given the elapsed time,
- solve elapsed time problems.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- calculating the duration of activities within an hour or multiples of an hour,
- telling time to the minute.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- elapsed time across am/pm,
- unit of time conversions.
