Lesson Plan: Counting in Tenths and Hundredths
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to make and analyze patterns of decimal numbers by finding one tenth or one hundredth more or less than a number.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- find one tenth more than a decimal with one decimal place,
- find one tenth less than a decimal with one decimal place,
- find one hundredth more than a decimal with two decimal places,
- find one hundredth less than a decimal with two decimal places,
- find missing numbers in a sequence by recognizing the pattern of the sequence.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- writing tenths and hundredths as decimals,
- counting forward and backward in tenths on a number line,
- counting forward and backward in hundredths on a number line.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- adding tenths and hundredths.
