Lesson Plan: More and Less: One, Ten, or One Hundred Mathematics
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to use place values to add or subtract 1, 10, or 100 from three-digit numbers.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- use models to show 1, 10, or 100 more or less than a number,
- find 1, 10, or 100 more or less than a given number,
- add or subtract 1, 10, or 100 from a number,
- understand how the digits change,
- understand that sometimes we need to regroup.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- the place value of three-digit numbers.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- adding or subtracting three-digit numbers that are not multiples of 1, 10, or 100.
