Lesson Plan: Solving Equations Using Cofunction Identities Mathematics
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to solve trigonometric equations using cofunction identities.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- use the cofunction identities to find the general solution, or the solutions in an interval, of a trigonometric equation involving combinations of
- the sine or cosine functions,
- the tangent function,
- reciprocal trigonometric functions.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- cofunction identities,
- Pythagorean identities,
- evaluating trigonometric functions using cofunction identities.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- solving trigonometric equations using other methods.
