Lesson Plan: Kinetic Energy Physics
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to calculate the kinetic energy of objects of different masses, moving at different velocities.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- use the formula KE = in all combinations,
- recognize that all moving objects have kinetic energy,
- recognize that KE is proportional to mass but not to velocity, such that changes in velocity are more significant than changes in mass in terms of the resulting change in kinetic energy.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- the principle of the conservation of energy.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- two-dimensional motion.
