Lesson Plan: Relativistic Mass
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to calculate the increase in the mass of an object as it moves at greater speeds relative to an observer.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- understand that an object has a greater mass the faster it is moving in the reference frame of the observer,
- use in all permutations.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- units of eV/.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- relativistic momentum,
- relativistic energy,
- mass–energy equivalence.
