Lesson Plan: Related Subtraction Equations Mathematics • 1st Grade
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to write a family of subtraction facts linking three numbers up to 10 and model them with part–whole models.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- understand which part of a subtraction equation represents the difference,
- write multiple subtraction equations for a model,
- write subtraction equations with the equal sign before or after the subtraction symbol.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- counting to 10.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- addition.
