Lesson Plan: Parallel, Perpendicular, and Intersecting Lines
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to classify pairs of lines, rays, or line segments as parallel, perpendicular, or intersecting and use the correct notation to denote the relationship between lines.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- identify whether a pair of lines, rays, or line segments are parallel, perpendicular, or intersecting,
- use the notation for parallel () and perpendicular () lines.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- how to define lines, rays, and line segments and represent them with mathematical symbols.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- drawing parallel, perpendicular, and intersecting lines.
