Lesson Plan: Subsets of a Set
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to find a subset of a given set and determine whether a given subset belongs to a certain set or not.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- define when a set is a subset of another,
- use the notation for inclusion () and that for noninclusion (),
- identify whether a set is a subset of another or not,
- list all the subsets of a set.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- using the listing method and the description method to express sets,
- the role of elements in a set, including the notations and ,
