This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to convert between metric units of length, mass, and capacity.

Objectives

Students will be able to

  • convert between units of length, including millimeters, centimeters, meters, and kilometers,
  • convert between units of mass, including milligrams, grams, and kilograms,
  • convert between units of capacity, including milliliters and liters,
  • convert between different units of time,
  • solve problems in contexts where converting between metric units is required, such as ordering quantities or calculations with different units.
