Lesson Plan: Applications of Exponential Functions Mathematics • 9th Grade

This lesson plan includes the objectives and prerequisites of the lesson teaching students how to solve real-world problems involving exponential functions.

Students will be able to

  • solve real-world problems using a given exponential function of the form š¯‘¦=š¯‘ˇĆ—š¯‘¸ļ¨—,
  • construct exponential functions of the form š¯‘¦=š¯‘ˇĆ—š¯‘¸ļ¨— to describe real-world problems,
  • distinguish between exponential growth and exponential decay.

Students should already be familiar with

  • graphs of exponential functions,
  • solving exponential functions,
  • laws of exponents,
  • compound interest.
