Objectives
Students will be able to
- round decimal numbers without a leading zero to a given number of significant figures,
- round decimal numbers with a leading zero to a given number of significant figures,
- round whole numbers to a given number of significant figures,
- recognize the number of significant figures to which a given number has been written,
- solve real-world problems that involve rounding to a given number of significant figures.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- rounding numbers to any place value up to millions.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- standard form,
- estimating calculations by rounding.
