Lesson Plan: Composing 2D Shapes Mathematics • Kindergarten

This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to build simple 2D shapes and make larger shapes.

Objectives

Students will be able to

make 2D shapes from other 2D shapes,
identify the 2D shapes used to create another 2D shape,
count the number of 2D shapes in another 2D shape.

Prerequisites

Students should already be familiar with

naming squares, rectangles, triangles, circles, and hexagons.

Exclusions

Students will not cover

drawing 2D shapes.
