Lesson Plan: The Sine Rule Physics
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to use the sine rule to find missing sides and angles in different triangles.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- use to find a missing side length or angle of a triangle,
- use in conjunction with other triangle facts to find a missing side length or angle of a triangle.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- finding the perimeter of a shape given its side lengths,
- the idea that the angles in a triangle add up to ,
- the idea that an isosceles triangle has two equal angles and two equal sides,
- using trigonometry to find missing sides and angles of right triangles.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- the cosine rule,
- Heron’s formula.
