Objectives
Students will be able to
- solve one-step addition and subtraction problems,
- solve one-step comparison problems,
- solve two-step problems,
- model problems with bar models,
- write equations to represent problems.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- using bar models to write equations that represent addition and subtraction word problems,
- writing addition properties.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- representing problems using the standard algorithm (although this method can be used to calculate the answer).
