Objectives

Students will be able to

  • write expressions with parentheses and the four operations with numbers up to 100,
  • model expressions with parentheses,
  • write expressions to describe a real-world situation,
  • write sentences to describe an expression.

Prerequisites

Students should already be familiar with

  • the order in which to perform multiplication, division, addition, and subtraction,
  • times tables up to 12×12.

Exclusions

Students will not cover

  • writing expressions with indices or roots,
  • writing expressions with fractions or decimals,
  • writing expressions with variables.
