Lesson Plan: Parents and Offspring Science
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to identify parents and offspring.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- define parent and offspring,
- explain that animals, including humans, have offspring that grow into adults,
- match parents and offspring,
- compare and contrast parents and offspring.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- the names of common adult and baby animals,
- the main parts of an animal’s body.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- reproduction in plants,
- any details of reproduction in humans and other animals,
- the term life stages in reference to growth in humans,
- traits,
- life cycles of humans or other animals.
