Objectives

Students will be able to

  • use the standard long multiplication algorithm to multiply a two-digit number by a two-digit number,
  • find missing numbers in partially complete solutions,
  • identify errors in solutions.

Prerequisites

Students should already be familiar with

  • modeling multiplication using an area model,
  • calculating partial products and recording multiplication with the expanded column method.

Exclusions

Students will not cover

  • mental multiplication strategies.
