Lesson Plan: Properties of Multiplication Mathematics • Fourth Year of Primary School
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to use the four properties of multiplication (commutative, associative, identity, and distributive) to solve problems with numbers up to 100.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- identify the commutative, associative, identity, and distributive properties of multiplication,
- understand which property has been used in an equation,
- explain the solution to a multistep problem by using the properties,
- perform mental calculations by using the properties,
- find missing numbers in equations by using the properties.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- the commutative, associative, identity, and distributive properties of multiplication.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- using the properties with numbers greater than 100.
