Lesson Plan: Parts of the Solar System
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to describe the different planets in our solar system and their movement relative to the Sun.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- name the planets in our solar system,
- describe some of the main features of the planets in our solar system,
- describe the movement of the planets relative to the Sun,
- arrange the planets according to their location from the Sun and according to their size.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- the effect of the force of gravity,
- the Sun and the stars.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- any details about moons,
- other celestial bodies.
