Lesson Plan: Adding Objects Mathematics • Kindergarten
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to count on within 10 to find the total number of objects after more objects are added to a group.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- add together two groups of the same object,
- add in situations of “adding to” or “adding more,”
- use concrete and pictorial models to represent addition,
- write sentences like “2 and 3 is 5.”
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- counting to 10.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- using the addition or equals symbol,
- writing equations.
