Lesson Plan: Conductors, Insulators, and the Benefits of Electricity Science

Objectives
Students will be able to
- list some benefits of electricity,
- explain how to test whether a material is an electric conductor or insulator,
- classify materials as electric conductors or insulators,
- describe the role of insulators and conductors in electrical wires and cables.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- common appliances that use electricity,
- series circuits,
- the properties of metal and nonmetal elements.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- any detail of the dangers associated with electricity.
