Lesson Plan: Lines and Angles of 2D Shapes Mathematics • 3rd Grade
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to describe polygons by considering the types of angles and lines they consist of.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- describe a polygon by its parallel, perpendicular, or intersecting lines,
- describe a polygon by its acute, obtuse, or right angles,
- describe a polygon by the types of lines and angles it has.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- identifying acute, obtuse, and right angles,
- naming polygons.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- using notation for lines, line segments, or rays,
- using notation for parallel and perpendicular lines,
- using congruence notation,
- using angle measures and angle notation.
