Lesson Plan: Adding and Subtracting Money up to EGP 100 Mathematics
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to add and subtract amounts of money up to 100 Egyptian pounds and decide whether to add or subtract to solve word problems.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- select the key information in a word problem about amounts of money up to 100 LE,
- identify language that signals which operation to use to solve a one-step word problem about amounts of money up to 100 LE,
- write equations to represent one-step word problems about amounts of money up to 100 LE,
- solve one-step word problems about amounts of money up to 100 LE using addition and subtraction,
- write the correct unit (LE) with the answers.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- amounts of money up to 100 LE,
- adding and subtracting without regrouping.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- additions or subtractions that require regrouping,
- values greater than 100 LE,
- problems with more than one step.
