Lesson Plan: Levers in Everyday Life Science

Objectives
Students will be able to
- describe the structure of levers,
- define the terms fulcrum, effort force, and resistance force as they apply to levers,
- identify the symbols used to represent the fulcrum, effort force, and resistance force,
- identify the positions of the fulcrum, effort force, and resistance force in levers,
- identify examples of levers,
- describe how levers with different functions help us in everyday life.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- forces,
- the definition of weight force.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- identifying classes of levers,
- the law of levers.
