This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to find a specific solution to a separable differential equation, given an initial value.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- understand the concept of an initial value problem and the relationship between the general solution and a particular solution to a differential equation,
- find particular solutions to separable first-order ordinary differential equations, given an initial value.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- finding general solutions to separable differential equations.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- solving initial value problems involving nonseparable ODEs.
