Lesson Plan: Sorting Shapes Using Venn Diagrams
This lesson plan includes the objectives and prerequisites of the lesson teaching students how to sort shapes using a Venn diagram and count the number of shapes in each category.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- sort shapes into two groups based on given features,
- say how shapes have been sorted in a Venn diagram,
- identify a shape that has been incorrectly sorted.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- naming common 2D and 3D shapes and their properties,
- sorting shapes by flat and curved surfaces,
- sorting objects by color, shape, and size.
