Lesson Plan: Reproduction in Flowering Plants Biology
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to identify the structures in a flower and describe the processes of gamete formation, pollination, fertilization, and fruit and seed formation.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- identify the major organs of a flower,
- describe the functions of a flower and how its structure relates to function,
- describe how the flower forms pollen grains and ovules,
- describe the processes of self- and cross-pollination,
- describe the stages of fertilization,
- outline the process of fruit and seed formation.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- meiosis and gamete formation,
- the process of reproduction and the concept of sexual reproduction.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- the stages of meiosis.
