Lesson Plan: Comparing and Ordering Rational Numbers Mathematics • 6th Grade
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to compare and order rational numbers in different forms to solve real-world problems.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- compare rational numbers in different forms,
- order rational numbers in different forms,
- solve real-world problems involving rational numbers in different forms,
- understand that between any two rational numbers exists an infinite number of rational numbers (this is often called the density of rational numbers).
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- converting between different forms of rational numbers.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- operations on rational numbers (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
