Lesson Plan: The Present Simple and the Past Simple English
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to use the present simple and the past simple to talk about supporting communities.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- practise the past simple to talk about completed actions in the past,
- practise the present simple to talk about routines, habits, and facts,
- practise irregular verbs in the past simple,
- practise the “-s” form of verbs in the present simple,
- practise the verb to be in the present and past simple,
- practise yes/no and open questions in the present simple and past simple,
- use the present and past simple with time clauses,
- use the past simple to talk about successive past actions and repeated actions in the past.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- irregular verbs.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- the passive forms of the present simple and the past simple,
- “am used to” and “used to.”
