Objectives

Students will be able to

  • convert between metric units of area and customary units of area, including square inches, square feet, square yards, square miles, square centimeters, square meters, and square kilometers,
  • interpret and solve word problems involving conversion between customary and metric units of area.

Prerequisites

Students should already be familiar with

  • customary units of area and converting between them (square inches, square feet, square yards, and square miles),
  • metric units of area and converting between them (square centimeters, square meters, and square kilometers).

Exclusions

Students will not cover

  • converting between units of volume.
