Lesson Plan: Water Treatment
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to describe methods of water purification and explore their advantages, limitations, and common applications.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- describe the different sources of water,
- explain how water must be treated before use,
- outline the steps of the production of potable water,
- highlight the implications of an inadequate supply of water.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- a range of physical separation techniques.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- the chemical test for water,
- detailed chemistry regarding the identification and treatment of hard versus soft water.
