Lesson Plan: Fractions Equivalent to One-Half Mathematics

Objectives
Students will be able to
- use fraction strips to determine whether a fraction is equivalent to one-half,
- use number lines to determine whether a fraction is equivalent to one-half,
- use fraction models to determine whether a fraction is equivalent to one-half.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- how to read and write fractions using word form,
- how to read and write fractions using numbers,
- unit and nonunit fractions.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- denominators greater than 12,
- comparing or ordering fractions,
- equivalent fractions other than those with a value of one-half.
