Lesson Plan: Turns and Angles
This lesson plan includes the objectives, prerequisites, and exclusions of the lesson teaching students how to describe angles as fractions of a turn and use the fact that a whole turn measures 360 degrees to work out the measures of fractions of a turn.
Objectives
Students will be able to
- describe an angle as a fraction of a circle,
- recognize that we measure angles in degrees,
- recognize that a whole turn is , a half-turn is , and a right angle is ,
- find the measure of simple fractions of a turn.
Prerequisites
Students should already be familiar with
- identifying and naming acute, obtuse, and right angles.
Exclusions
Students will not cover
- measuring angles,
- drawing angles.
